CAPA'S SIGNATURE CULTURAL SHOW IS THIS SATURDAY!

This Saturday, May 11, 2019, the Council of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA) will host its popular annual signature event, the Splendor of the East (SOE) – “Battle of the Stars” at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center at 15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI 48126. SOE is a mesmerizing showcase welcomes all Metro Detroiters to attend this exciting diversified event.

Tickets for CAPA’s Splendor of the East are currently on sale and range for $15 for students to $100 for VIP tickets. The event will begin at 5:00 pm with a black-tie optional strolling dinner gala featuring Asian fusion dinner, including a special tribute to Mother’s Day. During the show, the Splendor of the East – “Battle of the Stars” will begin at 7:30 pm.

Highlights of the evening will include Michigan Talent – “Battle of the Stars” competition in conjunction to celebrating Asian Pacific Cultural Heritage month and/or Tribute to Mother’s Day, contestants will showcase breathtaking acts in four (individual and/or group, no age limit) categories: Sing, Dance, Instrument, and Special Act with cultural enrichment that will continue to inspire all ages. The pre-selected finalist will compete for the $1500 First Prize, Second Prize $300, Third Prize $200 to be awarded at the end of the show. Come and join us this year’s first Michigan Talent competition show and vote for your best Act!

CAPA IS OFFERING COMPLIMENTARY TICKETS TO 'SPLENDOR OF THE EAST' TO SELECT MICHIGAN COMMUNITIES

CAPA’s signature events, including SOE, continue to demonstrate the growing strength of the Asian Pacific American communities and their increasing contributions to Michigan’s economy, diversity and vitality.  We deeply  appreciate the  community’s  support for our initiatives and events, such as Splendor of the East.

As part of CAPA’s mission to serve the community and promote   strength   through   diversity,   CAPA   is   offering   complimentary   show   tickets   to   select communities.  Organizations and their members that support and serve the following communities are eligible to watch Splendor of the East for free: the disabled, low income seniors, the homeless, and single mothers and their children.  Each organization can receive 10 free tickets to CAPA’s May 11th cultural show by contacting CAPA’s executive director, Lisa Bugg, at lisa@capa-mi.org.



COME CELEBRATE ASIAN PACIFIC HERITAGE MONTH AT THE DETROIT INSTITUTE OF ARTS

May is Asian Pacific Heritage Month and Michigan's Council of Asian Pacific Americans is proud to partner with the DIA for a weekend honoring our region's beautiful and diverse cultures. This celebration will take place on May 18 and 19 at the Rivera Court of the Detroit Institute of Arts.

CAPA's Organizational Outreach & Board Meeting a Great Success!


CAPA would like to thank all of our members that attended last month's Organizational Outreach & Board Meeting at the Korean American Cultural Center of Michigan. The event enjoyed a splendid turnout from many members of the APA community! Special thanks to our guest speakers: Pina Vyas, Aneatha Reynolds, Lisa Gray, Kun Woo Lee, and Tamer Afr.

As a member of the Council of Asian Pacific Americans of Michigan, you and/or your organization will be part of our network of professionals and community leaders. Avail of CAPA's resources and events to help your organization grow and make an impact in Michigan's thriving APA community.

Once your application is submitted and the one-time membership dues are received, the applicant or organization is presented to the Board for a final approval.
